Slowly does it

With a shift towards slowing things down a little in the kitchen, Waitrose customers love the rich flavours and textures that come from slow-cooking meat. But they also enjoy the ease of a ready prepared dish, which is why the new Waitrose Slow Cooked range cleverly combines innovation and convenience. Tasty glazes and sauces are paired with lesser known British meats to create flavour-packed options for midweek meals. More than 20 dishes include Slow Cooked Beef Shin with a Japanese Barbecue Inspired Glaze, ready in 25 minutes, while the Slow Cooked Wild Boar Ragù uses free range British boar that’s been cooked for 10 hours – fantastic stirred through pasta.

Share the baking love

Another trend to come out of 2020 was a new-found (or renewed) love of baking – and we’re sure that in 2021, Waitrose customers will be taking every opportunity to show off their skills. Banana bread and cinnamon buns were last year’s most popular creations, as sharing baked goods became a way of supporting others and staying connected. The Waitrose home baking range has seen a rise in popularity over the past 12 months with sales consistently up by around 20% – a trend that’s set to continue. It’s why we’ve launched an exciting new range of cake mixes, cupcake cases and decorations to offer even more ideas for bakers of all abilities.

“Baking is a wonderful way to show kindness when you can’t be there in person, but it’s also a great opportunity to spend quality time with loved ones, particularly children, to help inspire their interest in food and get creative in the kitchen.

“We’ve created a new fun-filled range especially for amateur home bakers, including this biscuit kit – complete with cutters and icing pens. And mixes for classics like brownies, vanilla cake and scones will ensure you get perfect bakes every time.”
