“My Chocolate Pennies are a festive treat to be enjoyed by everyone in the family. These dark chocolate coins are made with 65% Dominican Republic Single Origin Dark Chocolate, with Fairtrade cocoa. They have an indulgent gianduja praline centre and can either be dropped into hot milk for a velvety indulgent hot chocolate, or can just be eaten as they are! For the grown ups, try adding one penny into a glass of warm mulled wine for a delicious festive beverage.”
Chocolate is a must at Christmas time and this year we’ve got some delectable newbies joining our already delicious range. For those who like their chocolate with a fruity twist, the Heston from Waitrose Hidden Christmas Pudding Orange (a twist on Heston’s infamous Hidden Orange Christmas Pudding) is the perfect choice, and can easily be cut into segments to share (or not!). Our Mini Vanilla Snowballs are sure to be loved by all, including Father Christmas, and our Dark Chocolate, Cherry and Amaretto Fudge makes for a delicious treat for the grown ups. All of our own-brand Christmas confectionery packaging is 100% recyclable, and all cocoa in our own-brand confectionery is Fairtrade, with our investment supporting farmers, workers and producer organisations across the Fairtrade network.
Festive blooms can add such a special touch at Christmas. For those looking for the red tones of Christmas, we have our beautiful No.1 Hydrangea & Ilex Bouquet and Traditional Foundation Bouquet. Or, for those looking at winter whites, our No.1 Christmas Orchid Bouquet would make a lovely addition to the Christmas table this year. All Kenyan roses within our bouquets are sourced from Waitrose Foundation farms. As a supermarket, we rely on farms and their communities across the world to grow, pick and pack our fresh food and flowers throughout the year, and through the Foundation, we work with suppliers to fund local projects that help improve the lives of the workers who grow, pick and pack our produce. Every time customers buy a Foundation product, a percentage of the sale is invested back into the community it came from. In 2021, we raised £2.4m for the Foundation from sales of over 200 different products.

“Taking responsibility for our impact on the planet is always front of mind when looking at new products. The roses in this bouquet come from a Waitrose Foundation farm in Kenya along with a beautiful handmade decoration from the SATUBO Women’s Group. This group was created to support women and the sustainable development of rural communities, and we’re delighted that we’re able to work with this fantastic group that empowers women to run their own businesses and facilitate greater financial independence and long term stability for their families.”
